SA Airlink (Pty) Ltd., known and branded simply as Airlink originated in the 1980’s through the merging of three small airlines, Border Air, City Air and Magnum Airlines to form Link Airways. Link Airways was liquidated in 1992. The two founders, Rodger Foster and Barrie Webb put in a successful bid for the business, resulting in the new airline named ‘Airlink’.
The focus of SA Airlink was aimed at linking South Africa’s smaller towns, hubs, and regional centers.

SA Airlink formed a strong strategic alliance with two other airlines, South African Express and South African Airways in 1997.
SA Airlink Routes and Fleet
SA Airlink is the biggest independent regional airline in Southern Africa. It links far more customers to smaller cities, towns and regional centers than any other competitor. It flies to 37 destinations through 9 African countries and also operates flights to Saint Helena with its fleet of Jetstream 41, Grand Cessna Caravan 208BEX, Bae RJ85, Embraer ERJ 135/140/145 jet aircraft and Embraer E-Jet 190.

1 400 000 passengers currently travel with SA Airlink annually through approximately 46 000 flights. The company has been growing year on year despite South Africa’s economy fluctuating significantly. Passengers making SA Airlink bookings is made up of 60% business and 40% leisure.
